1. Improve Lighting

    • Install Bright Lights: Ensure all rooms, hallways, and staircases are well-lit. Use high-wattage bulbs and consider adding extra lighting in dark areas.
    • Use Nightlights: Place nightlights in bedrooms, bathrooms, and hallways to provide visibility during nighttime trips.
    • Motion Sensors: Consider installing motion-sensor lights that turn on automatically when you enter a room or walk down a hallway.

2. Remove Hazards

    • Clear Clutter: Keep floors clear of clutter, such as shoes, books, and electrical cords, which can pose tripping hazards.
    • Secure Rugs: Use non-slip mats under area rugs or remove them altogether. Ensure carpets are firmly attached to the floor.

5. Furniture Arrangement

    • Stable Furniture: Ensure that furniture is stable and won’t tip over if you use it for support.
